As you may have seen, GTA VI was delayed yet again this week. Whether or not video games are your thing, this release is shaping up to be one of the largest and most expensive entertainment launches in history.
Reflecting on everything that’s happened since then, both in the world and in our own lives, it’s a reminder of how quickly time moves. Milestones and major moments, whether in entertainment or in our personal journeys, start to blur together, making it all the more important to pause, look back, and appreciate how far we’ve come.
Anyway, we have a lot to cover. Let's get into it.

🗳️ Zohran Mamdani Elected NYC’s Youngest Mayor in Historic Upset - In a stunning victory on Tuesday, 34-year-old Zohran Mamdani won the race to become the 111th mayor of New York City, defeating former governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa with approximately 50.4% of the vote. Mamdani’s victory marks several milestones: he is the first Muslim, first South Asian, and youngest mayor in over a century to lead the nation’s largest city. His campaign strategy resonated with a younger and diverse electorate and reflects the growing influence of the Democratic Party’s progressive wing.
🏎️ Tesla Shareholders Approve Elon Musk’s $1 Trillion Pay Package - In a landmark vote, Tesla investors have approved CEO Elon Musk’s massive $1 trillion compensation deal. The package is tied to aggressive performance targets that include skyrocketing Tesla’s market value and expanding into robotics and AI, potentially raising Musk’s stake in the company to roughly 25%. Despite backlash from some investors, shareholders overwhelmingly backed Musk, and the world's richest man just gets richer.
🎮 Take-Two Delays Grand Theft Auto VI Again - As mentioned in my intro, Take-Two Interactive has pushed back the release of its highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI to November 19, 2026, delaying it once more from its previously planned May launch (and others). The company cited the need for additional development time to ensure the game meets fan expectations, but the news sent Take-Two’s stock tumbling in after-hours trading. The world's most anticipated and expensive video of all time just keeps slipping away every time it gets close, but man is it going to be worth it when it comes out.

The NBA isn’t just dabbling in international games anymore. This week, league officials confirmed plans for a full-scale European league, targeting an October 2027 tipoff.
The vision? Twelve permanent franchises planted in cities like London, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, and Istanbul, with four extra spots sliding toward top teams from across the continent. Early talks with European mayors and heavyweight investors signal the NBA isn’t just testing the waters; it’s diving in with both feet.
Going Global: Stats That Prove the Hype
The numbers behind this move are eye-popping. The NBA pulls in over 250 million European fans, and Europe led all regions in merch growth last year. Social media engagement from European fans, meanwhile, has doubled since 2019.
Game broadcasts now reach over 215 countries, and more than 27% of today’s NBA rosters are made up of international players. The Euro influence runs deep: stars like Giannis, Luka, and Jokic have turned curiosity into full-fledged hardcore fans. It’s no accident the NBA held twelve regular season games in Europe over the past five years and every one of them sold out.
The Business Angle: Why the NBA Wants In
There’s serious economic heat here. EuroLeague is beloved, but can’t match the NBA’s broadcast deals or its marketing muscle. Sports networks and sponsors are lining up, with industry insiders projecting that media rights could push into the low billions.
Digital engagement and online viewership in Europe are up triple digits since the pandemic, which has made European youth basketball more popular than ever in major metro areas. The NBA wants in on that growth, betting big on younger demographics and crossover tournaments that could finally deliver a true East vs. West rivalry.
A League Measured in Time Zones
Of course, not everyone’s clapping. European fans are fiercely loyal to their hometown clubs, and there are plenty of concerns about travel logistics, cultural clashes, and what it means for existing leagues.
Late night games, marathon flights, and blending old-school traditions with what the NBA brings will be another further challenge. But whether you love the idea or are already rolling your eyes, one thing is clear: the future of basketball won’t be measured in just American arenas. The NBA’s global ambitions could make Friday nights in Madrid feel a whole lot like Madison Square Garden.

Shoe Dog is Phil Knight's gripping memoir that takes readers on the whirlwind journey from Nike’s scrappy origins to global dominance in the sneaker world. Unlike a typical business how-to manual, it’s more about the action-packed, sometimes messy, personal story behind the swoosh.
Knight shares the huge risks he took, the near constant threat of bankruptcy, wisecracking business drama, and an imperfect cast of teammates, many of whom sound like they might have fit in on The Office... if The Office sold running shoes instead of paper.
What sets Shoe Dog apart is its unfiltered look at both the triumphs and personal failings along the way. Knight doesn't position himself as a business guru, which is incredibly refreshing. Instead, he's delightfully candid about the chaos and tension between ambition and family life. If you want inspiration and a gripping ride through the ups and downs of building an iconic brand, this memoir is laced up and ready for you.
⭐ 4.83 / 5.0 in my book (no pun intended)

It cost $40,000 and was roughly the size of a refrigerator. Now, you can fit thousands of gigabytes in your pocket. Technological innovation is truly a marvel.
